Fresh Apple Cake with Caramel Frosting

Blend butter until smooth. Add sugar and eggs and beat well.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and spices together. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture, blend until just combined. Stir in apples and nuts.

Pour into a greased and floured 9X13 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 45-50 minutes. Cool completely and frost with Caramel Frosting.
- Caramel Frosting

Melt butter in small saucepan until starting to brown. Stir in brown sugar and salt. Stir over medium heat until sugar melts. Add milk and bring to a boil.

Pour into mixing bowl and cool 10 minutes. Add powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until spreading consistency. Add more powdered sugar if needing to thicken. Frost cake. Sprinkle chopped walnuts on top.
