Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt the chocolate and butter in the top of a double boiler or carefully in the microwave. Cool until mixture is tepid.

  2. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the eggs and sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl until mixture is thick and light yellow, about 2 minutes. Add the chocolate mixture and mix on medium speed until blended, about 30 seconds, occasionally scraping sides of the bowl.

  3. Cover the edge of the pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent it from burning. Pour the chocolate filling in shell and bake for 35-40 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil from the crust after 30 minutes of baking.

  4. Serve the pie warm with whipped cream.
