Julie’s Marble Brownies

Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly butter a 4-quart oblong pan (15 × 10½ × 2 inches).

Melt chocolate and butter together (double boiler or microwave, stirring every 30 seconds). Cool 5–10 minutes. Add sugar and mix well. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla. Fold in flour by hand. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, beat all cheesecake ingredients until smooth.

Spread ⅔ of the brownie batter into the pan. Drop spoonfuls of cheesecake batter evenly over the surface. Drop remaining brownie batter between cheesecake mounds (not directly on top).

Using the handle of a wooden spoon or chopstick, drag lines through the batter lengthwise, then crosswise, to create a marble pattern. Gently shake pan to level batter. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Bake 45–50 minutes, until set.
